Festival is an internationally renowned Spanish and Latin America Film Festival that takes place annually at Cornerhouse, Manchester. ¡Viva! was first established in 1995 and its 18th edition will run from the 2nd until the 18th of March 2012.¡Viva! is the only UK festival dedicated to both the promotion of Spanish and Latin American cinema and is a non-profit making educational charity. Furthermore, ¡Viva! gives speakers of Spanish the opportunity to congregate and exchange views in the popular opening galas and cafe events that it hosts.¡Viva! festivals' 18th edition highlights include the UK premiere of Primos (Cousinhood), a Spanish comedy by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo with well-known actors Quim Gutiérrez, Raúl Arévalo & Antonio de la Torre, the showing of Cuba’s first Zombie film, Juan of the Dead, and a screening of Pa Negre (Black Bread), the first ever movie in Catalan to represent Spain at the Oscars which was awarded with nine Goyas including best film, best director and best-adapted screenplay. Spanish award-winning musician, scriptwriter, actor and producer Emilio Aragón will be attending the gala night on 2 March to hold a special extended introduction for the opening screening of Pájaros de papel (Paper Birds), his first directed film.. }
