Texas Monthly magazine has also named Eiland one of Texas' 10 Best Lawmakers.In the November 4, 2014, general election, Eiland will face the Republican nominee, Wayne Faircloth, who defeated Bob Senter in the primary election held on March 4. Faircloth polled 6,112 votes (66.1 percent) to Senter's 3,134 votes (33.9 percent).Eiland currently serves on the House Appropriations Committee and is vice chairman of the Insurance Committee.He lives on Galveston Island and is married to the former Melissa Orebaugh.
