Under the command of Matthew Boyd, she sailed from Gravesend, England, on 8 August 1792, with 17 female convicts, free settlers and a cargo of stores. She arrived at Port Jackson, New South Wales on the 16 January 1793. While on the voyage from Port Jackson to Canton in February-March 1793, Matthew Boyd discovered a reef system near New Caledonia. The Bellona Reefs are named in honour of the ship.She was employed for the services of the East India Company on various occasions between 1782 and 1802. She was sold in 1802 and rebought by Boyd & Co in 1804.. }
