It once had a separate identity but is now effectively subsumed into the town of Rugeley, although it is in the civil parish of Brereton and Ravenhill. At the 2001 census the parish had a population of 6,524.Once mining was a big part of this area not only from the Leahall Mine but also several smaller ones in the area. Recently part of the mine area has been redeveloped as the Towers Business Park with its iconic Towers Point building.There are several churches within the district, the most notable being the Church of England Church of St. Michael's. There is also a Methodist church by the same name.Brereton used to have a railway from the Brereton Sidings (Rugeley Town) and led down many pathways to the mining areas of Brereton.
