He was elevated to the senior list prior to the start of the 2011 AFL season when Ayden Kennedy was placed on the long-term injury list. He was then selected to make his AFL debut in the opening round of the season against West Coast, after Todd Goldstein was a late withdrawal. He collected 20 disposals. He earned a lot of praise because he had to play as an undersized ruckman in that game. In his second AFL match against the Geelong Football Club at Skilled Stadium he collected 10 disposals.
