Since January 2003, Clodoveo Ferri has been a full Professor of Rheumatology and Chief of the Chair of Rheumatology and Postgraduate School of Rheumatology at the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia, Modena, Italy. A native of Cropani, a little town in Calabria, Italy, Clodoveo Ferri graduated cum laude at the University of Pisa and later specialized in internal medicine and rheumatology.From 1972 Ferri worked mostly in the field of systemic sclerosis, cryoglobulinemic vasculitis, and other autoimmune systemic disorders at the Rheumatology Unit of the University of Pisa. In January 2003 he moved to the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia. The main result of his scientific activity is the discovery of the causative role of hepatitis C virus (HCV) in the majority of patients with mixed cryoglobulinemia (cryoglobulinemic vasculitis) and in a significant percentage of patients with B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma Ferri is member of SIR (Italian Society of Rheumatology), GISC (Italian Group for the Study of Cryoglobulinemias), and international fellow of the American College of Rheumatology.. }
