Gratwick is a Democrat State Senator from Maine's 32nd District, representing part of Penobscot County, including the City of Bangor and the neighboring town of Hermon. In 2012, he won a hotly contested race and beat incumbent Republican Nichi Farnham to become State Senator. The Gratwick-Farnham race had the most outside spending of any State Senate race in Maine in 2012, with more than $450,000 of combined outside spending.
