From 1885 to 1889, he served as assistant United States Attorney General during the first administration of President Grover Cleveland. In 1889, Bryant served as dean of the University of Wisconsin Law School until 1903. Bryant also served as chairman of the Fish Commission of Wisconsin. He also wrote about nation law and Wisconsin. He died while on a trip to visit his birth place in Vermont.. }
