She was raped twice, beaten with a brick then murdered while exercising on a footpath beside the River Kelvin in Maryhill. Volunteers working on the Forth and Clyde Canal discovered her body around two hours after she dropped her daughter off at school. Adams' estranged husband had previously been jailed for six years for attempting to murder her, but the police quickly eliminated him from the enquiry.
