Although the village was founded in 1830, there are ruins of earlier habitation including remains of a medieval town. There are also the ruins of the early Tsaghkavank which sit adjacent to the church of S. Astvatsatsin. Tsaghkavank overlooks the town of Lichk upon a hill, and the portion that remains is a circular cylindrical wall with a very small entry. The church of S. Astvatsatsin is a small basilica with some broken khachkars and gravestones embedded into its walls. There is a 13th-century cemetery with numerous khachkars that sits on the same hill as the two churches. Nearby is a cyclopean fort.. }
