Matches in DBpedia 2014 for { ?s ?p Francis Ignatius (Frank) de Caires - A sound right-handed batsman, Frank de Caires was born in Guyana on May 12, 1909 and died there on February 2, 1959, aged 49. His career spanned the years from 1929 to 1938 although in truth, after February 1931 his appearances became more and more sporadic. His first-class debut for British Guiana was made against Trinidad at Port of Spain in the 1928/29 Inter-Colonial Tournament, a match the home side won comfortably in spite of de Caires top-scoring in the visitor’s first innings. When England toured the Caribbean the following season, 1929/30, de Caires was selected for three of the four Test matches, including the inaugural one by the West Indies on home soil. Played at Bridgetown, Barbados in January 1930, he performed admirably by scoring 80 runs in the first innings and 70 more in the second to earn his side a creditable draw. Later that year he was selected for the first tour of Australia by a West Indian representative side but failed to make any of the five Test matches. No obituary appeared within the covers of Wisden for Frank de Caires after his death.. }
