He ran in 1930 and 1932, but failed to be reelected.From 1931 to 1933 he sold homes and engaged in law, and in 1934 to 1938 he ran an agricultural-industrial enterprise in Hastings, moving the business to Charleston, Mississippi from 1941 to 1943. He was elected one last time to become a judge of Adams County, Nebraska from 1945, being reelected in 1948 and serving until his death in Hastings on April 30, 1951.
