His first orchestral work was performed by the Israel Chamber Orchestra when he was 18. During his national service he served as commander of the Israel Defense Forces Chamber Orchestra. He is a graduate of the Tel Aviv Conservatorium and of the Tel Aviv University School of Music. He studied composition and musicology in Rome and Cambridge. He composed nine symphonies, eleven concertos, four operas and over fifty chamber and solo compositions. He was named Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters of France in 2009.
