His first post was as Chaplain, Lecturer and Tutor at Tyndale Hall, Bristol after which he was successively General Secretary of the Church Mission Society, Vicar of Marston, Oxford and Archdeacon of Buckingham before elevation to the eponymous Suffragan Bishopric. After four years he was translated to Southwell where he remained until until he retired. He died on 9 June 1990.. }
