He is also the current president of the St Kilda Football Club.Westaway was educated at Christian Brothers College, St Kilda in Melbourne in the 1950s. He held several roles with different companies in the transport industry before founding Gregorys Transport in 1982. Westaway built the company from a local courier business into a nation-wide transport firm with 550 permanent trucks and over 80 staff. He is the current chairman of Gregorys Transport and in 2001 was awarded the Centenary Medal by the Australian Government for services to the transport industry.Westaway has been a lifetime supporter of the St Kilda Football Club, and over the past twenty years has been a member and sponsor of the club. In late 2007 he joined forces with a group of club identities and businesspeople to challenge the incumbent board. Westawaway formed the 'Footy First' ticket, which campaigned for increased football department spending at the club. Acknowledging the desire from members for a change in the club's administration, incumbent president Rod Butterss and four of his fellow directors resigned in October 2007.Since taking over in late 2007, Westaway has seen the club sign a new major sponsor, Jeld-Wen, and a new coach's sponsor, UD Trucks. His board has also committed the club to relocate its training base and headquarters to Frankston. In May 2007 Westaway came out in support of St Kilda coach Ross Lyon, declaring that he would love to see him coach the club for a decade if possible.. }
