He was a delegate to the 1900 Democratic National Convention. Green was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-sixth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Daniel Ermentrout. He was reelected to the Fifty-seventh Congress. He was not a candidate for renomination in 1902. He worked as editor of the Reading Telegram from 1903 to 1912 and of the Reading Times from 1911 to 1913. He resumed the practice of law in Reading, and was also admitted to the bar in Texas in 1920. He became engaged in oil operation in the Mid-continent Oil Field. He died in Reading in 1929. Interment in Arlington National Cemetery.. }
