He was one of the founders of the Creation Research Society and the Institute for Creation Research. He is considered by many to be "the father of modern creation science." He supported his religious beliefs in the inerrancy of the Bible by opposing facts and scientific results he saw as being contrary to it, especially such facts as the billions of years time-scales involved in measurements of evolution, the age of the Earth, and the age of the Universe.
