The charges were dropped on 31 August and he was kept in prison while a U.S. extradition case was developed and British authorities drew up further criminal charges of their own. In 2006 a British court found him guilty of six charges under the Offences against the Person Act 1861, four charges under the Public Order Act 1986, and one charge under the Terrorism Act 2000, and sentenced him to seven years' imprisonment. On 5 October 2012 he was extradited from the UK to the United States to face terrorism charges there and on 14 April 2014 his trial opened in New York.. }
