He was a founding member of the band along with bassist Jon Pearce and was also the main songwriter for the band. He released a solo album on 4 November 2013. Between 2008 and 2013, he has been an illustrator for Dr Who Magazine, The Guardian and other freelance projects.Lenman has been in and out of bands since his early teenage years, including several alongside Jon Pearce. Lenman and Pearce eventually formed the band Angel with drummer and producer Jason Wilson (Stakeout Studios). After a demo release and prior to their Pilot (Reuben EP), the band changed drummers and renamed themselves Reuben, shortened from the title of their track 'Words from Reuben'. With Reuben, Lenman released four albums, three of which were studio albums; the fourth was a compilation of B-sides and rarities recorded across Reuben's career, released after their 2008 hiatus.Reuben went on indefinite hiatus in June 2008 due to a "culmination of different pressures". Lenman currently illustrates for various clients including the Dr Who Magazine and The Guardian newspaper in London, and has specialised in this since Reuben became defunct.From 2004 to 2008, Lenman played drums in the band Caretaker. Lenman has also performed as a guest vocalist on albums by Frank Turner, Sucioperro, Sean Genockey and Left Side Brain.
