He would commit five more murders. Garayo sometimes dismembered, disemboweled, and cut fat out of the bellies of his victims. His victims' ages ranged from 13 to 55.He was arrested in 1880, sentenced to death, and executed by garrote on May 11, 1881 at the Polvorín Viejo de Vitoria .The legend of "The Sacamantecas" became notorious and the name was used to scare children into behaving.. }
