It is also aired on cable channel 11 and HD channel 209.The station signed on the air in November 1984, as English-language independent station KASK-TV. Five years later, it became KZIA, and in 1995, the station joined UPN as a charter member. In 2004, the ZGS Group of Arlington, Virginia purchased the station for $11.8 million, changed the language of broadcast to Spanish, and affiliated it with Telemundo. The call letters were changed to KTYO, and later KTDO.UPN, which went off the air in September 2006 after a merger with The WB to form The CW, never again had a full-time affiliate in the El Paso area. On November 16, 2010 Telemundo El Paso aired first 5pm and 10pm newscasts, "Telenoticias El Paso," in high definition, making these the first HD Spanish newscasts in the city.. }
