Haasan was noted for his performance in Mani Ratnam's Godfatheresque Tamil film Nayagan (1987), rated by Time magazine as one of the best films in cinema history. Since then he has appeared in a number of films including his own productions, Hey Ram and Virumaandi, and the Dasavathaaram (in which he played ten different parts).
