He was the managing director and founder of Quay West Radio in Somerset before moving to Pembrokeshire in 1999. He formed 107 "Haven FM", a month-long trial radio station which began in July 1999.In November 2001, the Radio Authority (now Ofcom) awarded Haven FM the first licence for Pembrokeshire. The station (renamed 102.5 Radio Pembrokeshire) launched on 14 July 2002 and was profitable even before launch due to the number of advertising clients. The RAJAR results have shown that Radio Pembrokeshire broke industry records by achieving the UK’s highest ratings for nine quarters in a row, consistently delivering around 40% market share.[1]. Radio Pembrokeshire has won industry awards such as the Sony Radio Academy Awards silver award in Wales in 2003 and 2004, Arqiva commercial radio award in 2005 and 2006.In 2003 he helped launch Radio Carmarthenshire and Scarlet FM in Carmarthenshire from a studio complex in Narberth, Pembrokeshire. In 2006 Haven FM media group secured the new licence for Swansea and Swansea Bay Radio launched in November 2006.In August 2006, Jones sold his majority shares in Haven FM to Town & Country Broadcasting, started a radio consultancy business and now oversees the running of Radio Scilly which launched on 3 September 2007.. }
