He practiced law for several years in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles. From 1913-23 he was a Superior Court judge in Los Angeles. In 1923 he was appointed to the Supreme Court of California to fill a vacancy; the next year he was appointed Chief Justice and served as such until leaving the court in January 1926.Following his tenure as Chief Justice, Myers joined a Los Angeles law firm run by Henry W. O'Melveny.
