Earlier in the world Universiade in Kazan, Rivera competed with Aleksandr Menkov, where he overcame, sending him second place, four feet apart, while at the world championships in Moscow, Menkov overcame Rivera, achieving a jump of 8.56 meters, beating Rivera by 29 feet. His brother, Edgar Rivera, compete in the high jump. He has participated in various international competitions, which include the World Universiade in Shenzen, China, Kazan, Russia. He also managed to participate in world championships, as Daegu, Korea, held in 2011, Moscow, Russia, concluded in 2013. }
