He is a multiple-time Polish record holder, and a three-time medalist for the 800 and 1500 m freestyle at the European Junior Swimming Championships (2006 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain and 2007 in Antwerp, Belgium). He also won two gold medals in the same category at the 2006 FINA Youth World Swimming Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Hreniak is a member of UKS Ruch Grudziądz, and is coached and trained by Marek Dorywaiski.Hreniak qualified for the men's 1500 m freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by clearing a FINA A-standard entry time of 15:10.78 from the European Junior Championships in Antwerp. He challenged six other swimmers on the second heat, including Olympic veterans Dragoș Coman of Romania, Nicolas Rostoucher of France, and Ricardo Monasterio of Venezuela.
