He then commanded the 33rd Infantry Brigade between February and September 1917, when he was made commander of the 24th Division. He held this post until the division was disbanded in 1919. Daly was made a Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1918 and a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in 1919. He was Inspector-General and Military Advisor to Minister of Defence in Iraq between 1925 and 1927, and retired from the army in 1928.Daly married Grace Wilkinson, the daughter of Major H. C.
