Nicknamed "The Maestro", he played college lacrosse at Mercyhurst College and was named a two-time Division II All-American.McLellan was drafted in the 2nd round (14th overall) by the Edmonton Rush in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft, and was immediately traded to the Arizona Sting. He was then released by the Rock and picked up by the Colorado Mammoth.
