It is spread over three acres of land.In 2003, it was announced that there would be a special cover to commemorate the tree. Beneath the tree lies the tomb of a Muslim saint and hence the name Peerlamarri which means Peer (saint) buried under the Marri(Banyan).There is a science museum which houses some of the artefacts found in the palamoor region. There is a small nursery and a deer park around the great Peerlamarri, some movies scenes are shooted over there. }
