They are the largest such organisation in all of Ireland.[citation needed] Along with distributing pro-life literature, they also give talks across Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland Assembly debated the issue of abortion in October 2007 as a result of a motion tabled by Jeffrey Donaldson and Iris Robinson. The motion, which rejected draft guidelines on abortion issued by the Department of Health in January of the same year, was passed. Precious Life stated that this outcome represented a "victory for unborn children".It is a sister group of Youth Defence. Unlike Youth Defence, it is registered with the CRO as a company and not as a business name. The company last filed accounts with the CRO in April 2010.In October 2012 Precious Life reported that figures for women seeking abortion have reduced and the numbers of women travelling to England has fallen by 36% in the 15 years since the foundation of Precious Life. Bernadette Smith,said she was absolutely outraged at proposals for a Marie Stopes Centre in Belfast. She declared "An organisation which is making profits from the death of unborn children is not welcome in Northern Ireland. There will be an outcry from the people, from government and from the churches.” On 19 January 2013, Pro Life Campaign, Youth Defence, Family Life, the Life institute, Precious Life and Women Hurt organised the "Unite for Life Vigil" in Dublin. Among the speakers was Tyrone football manager Mickey Harte. According to Gardaí the turnout was around 25,000 people, including the Archbishop of Tuam, Michael Neary and several bishops. Members of the government attending the demonstration were Fine Gael TD Terence Flanagan, Senators Labhrás Ó Murchú and Ronan Mullen. Precious Life took its anti-abortion campaign to the Northern Ireland Assembly during the debate of an amendment to the Criminal Justice Bill, attempting to outlaw private clinics such as Marie Stopes offering abortions in Northern Ireland. Members of the Precious Life group presented their 250,000 signatures to their 'petitions of concern for unborn babies' to the assembly. The debate which was heated ended in defeat.. }
