The state's unemployment rate declined from 7.4% in January 2010, when McDonnell took office, to 5.2% in December 2013, similar to the decline in percentage terms in the national unemployment rate from 9.8% to 6.7% during the same period.McDonnell's governorship ended with a 55% to 32% approval to disapproval rating among registered voters.
