In 2006, they secured a recording contract with Geffen Records and Akon's Kon Live Distribution imprint. They have written a string of hit singles for artists such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson, R. Kelly and Akon, among many others.Despite their songwriting success, they were unable to get a release date for their debut album under the labels. Subsequently the duo launched a very public campaign they gallantly called "PTFAO (Put the F**king Album Out)", to make the industry aware of their plight. Finally, in March 2011, after two years of campaigning, Akon met with the duo and offered them the option of remaining with the label and working towards releasing an album, or being released from their contract. Grateful as they were to Akon for the opportunities afforded them, the duo chose to become free agents. They then launched Rebelution Records, on which they plan to release their debut album under.Since 2008, the duo has released 15 mixtape for free download online. The creative duo offers international flair combined with a hip hop aesthetic with their music. They later had to officially change their name to R. City because of confusion caused by Detroit's nickname (which is Rock City as well). After leaving Akon's Kon Live label, their name was once again changed to their current namesake Planet VI.. }
