He was appointed as Vice Minister of Coordination with Social Movements in January 2010, and elevated to Minister of Government (or Interior Minister) in January 2007. Llorenti resigned from that post on 27 September 2011 in the wake of the Morales government's violent raid on the peaceful indigenous march in defense of the Isiboro Sécure National Park and Indigenous Territory.
