Shortly after forming, the band had managed to tour worldwide as well as appear on the Warped Tour before signing in 2003 to Fiddler Records (which had by then become an imprint of Geffen/Universal Records' distributing). The band soon released their debut EP Love It or Leave Me in October 2003. The album was well received and the band toured extensively for the next year. However, as their popularity grew in demand in the UK, tensions started building up during the summer of 2004. Multiple record labels started taking interest in the band in the UK, including Sorepoint Records, Undergroove Records and Eat Sleep Records. They pulled strings together, and booked a fall tour with Johnny Truant from September 17, 2004 to October 2, 2004. Sorepoint reissued the EP in the UK including an exclusive bonus track "Amphetamine Crush", while Eat Sleep and Undergroove used the song on a pink split 7" with Johnny Truant. A second new song, "Rusty Blood" was also due to be played for the first time during the UK tour. Unfortunately they had to pull out of the tour when guitarist Joe Simmons quit. They continued playing local shows as a four piece throughout October and November, but in December 2004 vocalist Adam D'Zurilla was asked to leave.By April 2005, the band had written over eleven new songs and were eager to share them with fans online. After line up and changes in musical direction, Salem disbanded in August, 2005. The members then went on to create Currents and Mother/Father (along with members of former Epitaph recording artists Scatter the Ashes).. }
