However, the compound is located inside the territory of Marikina City. During the line's planning stages, the station's working name was M. A. Roxas, due to its proximity to M. A. Roxas Street in Marikina City. A nearby overpass on Marcos Highway is adjacent to SM City Marikina. Another overpass serves as the main crossing for pedestrians coming from Marcos Highway's westward lane and from those coming from a small street that leads to Marikina City Proper.The station is the eastern terminus of the MRT-2 and is the first and last station for trains headed to and from Recto respectively. The Santolan Depot, where the trains of the line are cleaned and maintained, is also near the station, as well as the line's Operations Control Center (OCC).
