Shehzad also won the University Class Medal for his academic studies in 2009, winning the 1st prize award for his Master of Arts in Screen Project Development course. In 2010, Shehzad received a PG CERT in Interactive Entertainment following the design course at Edinburgh Napier University. Shehzad produced two award winning short films whilst at the Screen Academy; one of which resulting in the first ever collaboration of a film project between screen academies in the UK (Screen Academy Scotland & Screen Academy Wales). Afzal won the Abbey Santander award for Outstanding Achievement in Film and Creative Media in 2009.Shehzad was selected to take part in the Media funded ENGAGE programme in 2010, a talent development initiative which takes a select few emerging filmmakers from across Europe through a nine month process of masterclasses, film project workshops (which took place in Tallinn, Estonia; Helsinki, Finland; Dublin, Ireland and Edinburgh, Scotland), case studies, film screenings, culminating in delivering a pitch to industry professionals of the final film project.Shehzad Afzal was nominated for the Satyajit Ray Film Foundation Award for Best Film Award 2007 (awards presented by BAFTA award winning filmmaker, Asif Kapadia), in association with the British Council and the British Film Institute for documentary film, Bo Kata.In 2009, Shehzad Afzal was presented by Sir Sean Connery the Edinburgh International Film Festival & Skillset Trailblazer Award for his film work, to celebrate emerging talent in British Cinema.In 2010, Shehzad Afzal shot his debut feature film, Pendulum Drift, which is currently in post-production and due for film festival release in 2014/15.. }
