Ltd., becoming a Director in 1942 and the company’s managing Director in 1944.In 1947 Bryan was appointed chief Inspector of Mines in the Ministry of Fuel and Power, a post he held until 1951.Andrew Bryan was President of the Institution of Mining Engineers (1950–51); a Fellow of the Institute of Ceramics and the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy; President of the Mining Institute of Scotland and North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers (all merging in 2002 into the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining) and President of the National Association of Colliery Managers.
