Appointed to the Senate of Ceylon at its conception in 1947 he was the only person to be in it from its conception until its abolition in 1972.Born in Jaffna, he educated at the prestigious Royal College Colombo and thereafter at the University College Colombo and was called to bar in 1932. Nadesan quickly gained a reputation as a trial lawyer thus becoming the youngest person to be named to the prestigious position of Queen's Counsel in 1954. His career in law spanned over 55 years and appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1954 and in 1969 he was elected President of the Bar Council.
