It is the best science centre in Oxfordshire and one of the best in the United Kingdom. It was officially opened by BBC nature presenter George McGavin on the 14th October 2009.The school has 4 houses: Athenian, Corinthian, Spartan and Trojan. They provide a sense of pride and competitiveness in the school and are a focal point of everyday life at St Birinus. The houses compete in a variety of sports including Rugby, Football, Cricket, Basketball and Athletics. There are also a range of non-sporting events so everyone can take part. A new addition to the houses are house points awarded for Hard Work, Dedication, Commitment, Respect and Achievement, all crucial aspects which underpin life here at St Birinus.. }
