It was built in 1866 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. The property for the school was donated by a prominent family at the time who supported educational endeavors. The school had a separate entrance for the boys on the south side of the building and for the girls on the north side. The building ceased being a school in 1955 and it had fallen into disrepair.
