The Iraqi government, under Yasin al-Hashimi, crushed a revolt by the Yazidi Kurds of Jabal Sinjar against the imposition of conscription. The Iraqi army, led by Bakr Sidqi, reportedly killed over 200 Yazidi and imposed martial law throughout the region.
