This was on the same day as other United Kingdom local elections, 2012. The Council remained in "no overall control", but with the Conservatives holding half of the seats. These seats were previously contested in 2008, with the exception of one extra seat in London Colney, which had become vacant at the resignation of Conservative councillor Irene Willcocks, and the St Peter's seat, which had been won by the Green Party in a by-election in 2011.
