The Eparchy of St. George does take part in the Synod.Its cathedral is the Holy Trinity Metropolitan Cathedral (Catedrala Mitropolitană Greco-Catolică Sfânta Treime) in Blaj.On May 18, 1721, it was established as the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Făgăraș (Latin: Archidioecesis Fagarasiensis Romenorum). On November 16, 1854, it was renamed Metropolitan Archdiocese of Făgăraș and Alba Iulia (Fagarasien(sis) et Albae Iulien(sis) Romenorum in Latin).
