After a period as Curate at Holy Trinity, Habergham Eaves he was appointed Domestic Chaplain to the Bishop of Wakefield. From 1905 to 1909 he was Vice Principal of Leeds Clery School after which he was Vicar of Mount Pellon (and then Brighouse), Rural Dean of Whitby and Prebendary of York before his elevation to the Episcopate as the inaugural Bishop of Pontefract. Translated to Wakefield in 1938, he retired in 1945 and died on 16 May 1967.. }
