He attended the famous Sofia University. As a student Vlad was actively involved in the formation of the first free newspapers after the fall of Communism in Bulgaria in 1990-s. Later he was recruited as an independent professional by the state-run Bulgarian National Television, and was entrusted with the live reporting from the parliamentary sessions. This same parliament produced the first non-communist constitution in Eastern Europe. Later Vlad Zachary was one of the first newscasters on the first private radio station in Bulgaria "Express Radio".
