With competition from nearby Evansville television stations, WRAY-TV was never successful as a commercial independent station and ceased operations. The station license, as well as the studio equipment, went to Vincennes University.In its current incarnation, WVUT signed on on February 15, 1968, as an affiliate of National Educational Television (NET).
