A native of Pennsylvania, he began playing for New York teams as a teenager, but was best known for his career with the Philadelphia-based Belmont Cricket Club, which extended from 1883 to 1894, and included eleven seasons of Halifax Cup matches. Often playing for Belmont under the captaincy of his older brother, Joseph Scott, Scott was a right-handed all-rounder, and, although largely unsuccessful at first-class level, was one of the best players in Philadelphia for several seasons. He died in Colorado in 1907, of pneumonia.. }
