At the time, Kepa was pursuing a master's degree from Purdue University. In 1982, he coached at Fenwick High School in Illinois but returned to Saint Joseph's in 1983 for one more season as an assistant.In 1984, Kepa began coaching at the College of William & Mary as an offensive assistant, specializing in wide receivers.
