- 3_O'Clock_Blues abstract ""3 O'Clock Blues" or "Three O'Clock Blues" is a slow twelve-bar blues recorded by Lowell Fulson in 1946. When it was first released in 1948, it became Fulson's first hit. In 1952, "3 O'Clock Blues" also became B.B. King's first hit as well as "one of the top-selling R&B records of 1952".This blues music standard was made most famous by Riley B. King. It was also B.B King's first major successful recording. King first recorded the song in August 1951 with Modern Records in an improvised recording space provided by a YMCA in Memphis. It was not until December 1951 that the song was released with the RPM recording company by B.B. King. On February 2 of that year, “Three O'Clock Blues” hit number one on the Billboard R&B Hit Parade Chart. In direct effect to the success of this song, B.B King was given his first opportunity to perform in front of national audience. Three O'Clock Blues was the song that started B.B. King's lifetime career and sparked a touring schedule that continues today. It wasn't until 1956 that the song was released as apart of B.B. King's first album, “Singin' the Blues.”".
