The goods yard had a 1.5 ton crane and could handle all kinds of freight.The closure of the lines to Whitby was marked by the Whitby Moors Rail Tour run by the Stephenson Locomotive Society and the Manchester Lococmotive Society and was hauled by preserved LNER K4 2-6-0 no.3442 The Great Marquess and York shed's K1 2-6-0 no.62005 (which resides at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway in the care of the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group (NELPG).Freight services were withdrawn in 1964 and it was closed on 8 March 1965. The station building survives but only a small part of the down platform remains. The trackbed forms part of the Scarborough to Whitby Railway Path.".
